308 FTR Trim Length

Hello Everyone

Im looking at getting myself a 308 FTR shortly but I noticed that the case length is 2.045" instead of the standard 2.025".
This was to allow shooters to neck up 7-08 brass to 308 if they wanted to.

If I want to reduce that length to 2.025" its a $50 modification fee which is fair enough, im just wondering will it matter if I keep it at 2.045"?

Am I correct in thinking that it will allow me to have my trim length on my 308 Palma brass abit longer or should I still trim to the standard 2.005"?

Also is there any detriment in accuracy keeping the longer 2.045" chamber case length?

Thanks all for your time and info

You are correct in your thinking. I just trim mine to 2.015 with the FTR team reamer (2.045) You won't see a difference in accuracy between the 2 lengths. Just an anomaly carried over year to year. If you end up spec'ing out a reamer they will (should) correct the length to 2.025.

What @Acyr said ...... I run my brass at 2.010 , and trim when it gets to 2.015 . Never had any issues holding those parameters . Also ; If you are getting into TR , minimal shoulder Bump is your friend . Look for that magic .001 Bump , and the brass will like it too .
