308 cleaning

Hi,

I am trying to figure out best patch size for rolling patch on 308 Win cleaning jag. I have the one that is longer, conducive to rolling patch like a cigarette. I am looking to order/buy patches in the right size, like 2 inch by 2 inch, but maybe someone can say what works for him.

And please suggest best way to clean chamber in 308. I use my 45acp nylon brush, Seems to be ok.

I've got 1600 plus rounds through my .308. I've not really cleaned the chamber...

One of those bore mops every so often... but that's about it.

I use ones that are 2x2 inches.I use southern bloomer patch's. I clean with montana copper killer and butch's etc to remove some of ,if any copper. I always clean to remove carbon everytime I shoot it.

as to the chamber, I use the Midway chamber cleaning kit.

Note, lots of shooters do more harm than good by cleaning. So, be certain that your method/materials are proper. :)

I use a long brass handled IOSSO nylon chamber brush in 45acp & I also have some older bronze brushes I use on a much older military (Probably a M1 cleaning kit) rod w/ GI issue patches to finish the chamber.
Years ago my wife was doing a project w/ flannel (100% cotton & thicker than t-shirt) and I kept all the left over ends & sheets. Tossed in washer and then started making a 2" wide roll. Still have different sizes and never figured which was best on a jag. Using an old brush 2x2 is hard to beat. My bore cleaning is w/ VFG felt wads and both brass & nylon brushes.

I've been using 2X2" patches on a Parker Hale jag for a long, long time. The PH jag is a long one rather than a spear-pointed jag, and the 2X2" patches work well for this application. They also work well for handguns and muzzle loaders up to .54.
