308 Baer data

I am looking for load data and anything you have to say on the 308 Baer for 1000 yd LG. I am picking one up in about 2 weeks. I have read these forums and not much has been said. I know it has been around for awhile and many shooters want to talk about what's new. surely there is a wealth of info out there. Thanks

I think some Weatherby brass came with it, but I won't know unti l pick it up in Williams port. What velocity will it produce with the 210 Vld? Thanks, Mike

With a 30 - 31" barrel you'll be lokking for 3025 to 3050 fps w/ the 210 VLD and RL25. Like Lynn said the Case weight and also the Lot No. on the RL25 will determine the charge. I use Norma .300 WBY brass and Berger 210 VLD Hunting w/ RL25 and see anywhere from 79.5 - 81.0 grains to get the 3050. With that being said start off around 76.0 grains. I am using the .300 Ackley. I also run the 210s jammed .015" into the lands.

Lynn,
I hope that it is a good Lot#, I've only got 50 more lbs of it! I think that the lot on the Norma cases are the most important. I have a buddy that has a light gun built with my .300 ATLAS (Basically an Ackley) reamer using a different lot number of Norma Cases and it takes him 81.0 grains w/ his 11 Twist Krieger to get 3050. Using the Same lot# of RL25 and different Lot# on my Norma Cases, I use 79.5 gr. and get 3050 w/ my 11 Twist Broughton. Neither of us have pressure issues.

With a 10 twist you can shoot the 240 sierras perhaps the most accurate bullet out there. Push it with R22, H4831, MRP with a load range of 70.0 to 72.0 grns. Won tons of matches with the 240's.

That brings up a question lingering in my mind. Anyone able to push the 240 to say 2950 or beyond with the 308 Baer or simular? Mike

Thanks Lynn, I would really like to read that article. I saw a referral to the big boomers, but couldn't bring it up, so will try some more. Thanks again, Mike
