308 and BERGER 168VLD's

I'm shooting a factory 308 in TIKKA Master Sporter model 595 with NXS 8-32
The rifle really shoots well with Sierra Match King 175 and Scenar 155, both bullets with VARGET.
I've decided to try the BERGER 168 VLD as an all around hunting and target bullet. Hopefully these will be as good or better in the accuracy departemnt. I'll try Varget once again.

Question: Has anyone else shot these bullets in a 308 and what was your velocity, accuracy and chrony information?

sorry for the late reply - I've been hunting and working alot !
Update on the 168 VLD's in 308 has been excellent and is now my pet load bullet.
Using 45.5 gr. Varget, CCI BR2, Lapua brass...avg velocity 2730 fps
The average accuracy is .250 @ 100 yds.

What was your COL... I am looking for loads to try in my DPMS LR-308. I need them to run like hott butter from the mag 2.800" and would love one pet load in the 168's for target and the local Whitetail polulation. .....thanks EagleI

eagle1, drop back to 41.5 grns of Varget and work up in .2 grn increments with a COAL 2.825. This will work in your mags. In my experience with stock AR buffer system, bolt and carrier groups, loading too hot will get you in trouble more often than not. Remember you are shooting a gas operated gun not a closed bolt system pressure tested to 150,000 psi
