Sorry that I'm late in joining in but I just yesterday finished a load workup with CFE223 and 175 gr bullets, both SMK and Nosler Custom Competition.
The best load I found using the Nosler Custom Competition bullets:
47.3 gr CFE223
175 gr Nosler Custom Competition HPBT (unsorted, untrimmed meplats)
Winchester case neck turned to .012" (had to trim to this dimension in order to get all necks uniform)
Federal GMM 210M Primers
Seating depth of 2.243
as measured with a comparator OAL varied a bit but averaged 2.810" to meplat.
Here's the result at 300 yards with a 7 mph wind from 7-8 O'clock.
The "paster" covers a single shot from another group of ammo I was testing. All five shots from the listed load are contained in this group.
The rifle is a Remington 700 Stainless Steel action that started out as a 5-R Milspec but has been rebarreled with a 24" Benchmark 5-C barrel. This rifle is a "Practical/Tactical" type with all shooting done from a folding bipod (sinclair Tactical) and a Red-Tac "Bean Bag" rear bag. No "lead sled" or adjustable rest.
I tried this powder in Lapua Brass and did find that it prefers the extra room the Winchester brass provides. As or "Pressure Signs", the primers did appear to flatten quicker but no cratering, no "flowing", and the primer pockets remained tight after several firings with the CFE223. The load posted is .2 gr less than the published load from Hodgdon/IMR. I did shoot a MAX load with no pressure sign but the group started to open up.
Temp was 60 degrees and that is about the middle of our shooting "climate" here. (20-100 degrees).
BTW, for those that haven't visited Hodgdons reloading data site recently, they have improved it immensely. Some data appears to have changed as well.
