308 - 155gr Sierra HPBT Palma Match in a 24" 1-10 twist w/IMR8208XBR?

308 - 155gr Sierra HPBT Palma Match in a 24" 1-10 twist w/IMR8208XBR?

Anybody trying this combination with good results? I also have Varget and H4895 but I have those saved for other loads right now.

Another question.........do the Sierras generally like to be close to the lands or jumped a little?

Thanks.

I am shooting the above combo from my 700 VS with 26" barrel. COAL with this bullet to the lands is 3.020", so it is shooting with plenty of jump @ 2.890". I went with the 44.6 grain load pictured above:

MV 2838
ES 15
SD 8

Decided to try some testing today with the 155's. After some discussion with some guys on FB in Long Range Shooters and Precision Marksman group about the pressure difference between IMR8208XBR and H4895, I decided to go ahead and try them with H4895. These are the following results shot out of my bone stock savage 10 FCP McMillan...........

My chrono readings on the 45.2 gr load was as follows 2923/2911/2923/2912/2923. :)

I am jumping these 55 thousandths to get them seated in the brass far enough for my liking.

I run the 2156 155gr over a stout charge of 8208. Makes 3025 FPS out of my 30" 1:13" Palma rifle. The ES and SD weren't stellar in testing but the load shoots lights out. Nompressuremsigns even at 90+ degrees. I jump them .045".

Brass makes a big difference in .308. I like Winchester for USA brands and Lapua if I use foreign. Lake City and IMI brass needs a full 2.0 grain powder reduction to get similar chamber pressures.

Where is the base of the bullet when seated in reference to neck junction, I'm trying to see the difference in mine and your's I also shoot 155 palma bullets , what is you col,

Like 25 thousandths or better?
Yes,

I jump my palma gun 35 thou. 2011 fullbore chamber. I didn't see anything good from that bullet (2156) until 25 thou off.

Also try some one 4064. Oldie but man does that stuff shoot. I am right at the 3000 Mark without pressure. Lapua brass, federal primers 30" bartlein 5r. Wicked performance
