What would you choose? If loading to that short mag length, pick a different bullet.
What is it used for? 180-190 gr range may be nice. Guys are liking the 185 juggernaut even as a hunting bullet. With the velocity gained it’s probably a better choice to 700-800 yards anyway. I assume mag lengthis for huntingWhat would you choose?
I'm using H1000 eith my Berg. 215s. Mine are 2.287" cartridge base to ogive in my barrel. There are in the lands .017". Load runs great.Looking for best powders when loadingthe 215 berger to 3.34 magazine length
I realize a longer oal of 3.56 is optimal but my friend's factory magazine/throat will not allow it.
Thanks
Bill
This is an excellent load but way longer than a 3.340 magazine will swallow.I'm using H1000 eith my Berg. 215s. Mine are 2.287" cartridge base to ogive in my barrel. There are in the lands .017". Load runs great.
Steel shooting up to 1500 yardsWhat purpose?
Its it recreationally or some kind of competition requiring rapid rounds downrange? If not competition why not single feedSteel shooting up to 1500 yards
Consider emulating a Fed GM or Blackhills 300wm load utilizing the Sierra 190 MK. It too runs well with H1000.This is an excellent load but way longer than a 3.340 magazine will swallow.
Can single feed. Will measure throat so the oal length can be increasedIts it recreationally or some kind of competition requiring rapid rounds downrange? If not competition why not single feed
As stated previously. If you are shooting out to that range. Load the round long and use in a "single shot" mode. A general rule of thumb with the Berger Elite Hunter and Hybrid Target bullets is to start your bullet seating depth testing at .015" off the lands. Then you work back into the cartridge case in .015" increments (.015",.030", .045", .060"). When you find a bullet seating depth that shows promise, you can test .005" to either side of that CBTO if you wish to see if accuracy can be improved. All bullet seating depth testing is done using the starting powder charge!Steel shooting up to 1500 yards
You figure this is about the max weight/BC bullet that can be used at 3.34 oal?Consider emulating a Fed GM or Blackhills 300wm load utilizing the Sierra 190 MK. It too runs well with H1000.
Thanks for the info. Will do when I measure throat length. As stated previously. If you are shooting out to that range. Load the round long and use in a "single shot" mode. Understood. I was expressing that I uae H1000 for my setup which should run equally as well for a 300wm in a 3.34 setup. This is an excellent load but way longer than a 3.340 magazine will swallow.
You could look at the 220 Sierra MK. Its utilized in the Mk248 mod1. Larger weight mean longer projectile. For 3.34 mag, depends how deep you can run them. H1000 still should accomodate as a powder selection. Sorry, my history revolves around the CIP mag lengths. You figure this is about the max weight/BC bullet that can be used at 3.34 oal?
yes but my 300 win mag m13 clone shoots a berger 230 with rl23 much better than the sie 220 and h1000. been there done that.big diff at 1000 plus yardsYou could look at the 220 Sierra MK.
