300RUM first outing, video added..

Finally got the new 300RUM out to the field to stretch her legs and let me tell you it was worth every penny, started with a little load development then took her out to 735yds, conditions were decent a slight cross wind, but after using the 735yd gong for windage adjustments, we started taking out the milk jugs filled with colored water, then decided to try the 12oz lipton iced tea bottle filled with blue water 'plastic not glass' at 735, one shot 'splat' this thing is unreal, and kicks less than my VS223, you can watch your hit's through the scope, here's a couple pics, 200yd load testing with chrony, 1000yd 4'x4' white w/ 10' black center you cant really tell but i'm standing next to the 1000yd target, poor quality camera, don't have any long distant pics of the 735yd gong and jugs cuz the camera wont pic them up..

It's a dirty rotten shame you're forced to shoot out in that country. Glad you had the will to carry on.

Nice pics,

Al

Looks real good!! I was wondering if you put a brake on it..

What bullets and velocitys are you getting? And, Is that duracoated?

Jerid

Wow! That's quite a muzzle brake! My .300 RUM weighed about 8.5 pounds w/no brake. It was a hoot, 200 gr bullets at 3200 fps!

Enjoy! Should be a great long-range critter-whomper!

Good deal. The artillery brake is an especially nice touch, where'd yoy get yours?

I've always felt the RUMs were never quite respected for their capability, but I like them enough to have a couple.

Thanks guys, Randy at R&D precision built it, and did an amazing job worth every penny, heres some stats, trued new 700 action, tubbs over sized lug, 30' rockcreek 1/10 5r 1.350 at the lug .980 at the brake, jp brake, tubbs speeplock, R&D trigger job, badger 20 moa base, tps rings, R&D tac knob, fully duracoated, bedded MCM A5 fully adjustable, w/ spacer system,& thumb wheel, harris swivel w/ notches & pod lock, nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50 np r2,

Well i would have to say this load works for me, after shooting the 93.0 & 93.5 RETUMBO w/ the 208 A-MAXs, i split the dif and went with 93.3, and loaded up 50 in new weight sorted nosler custom brass, and went to the place i shoot long range, we set targets at 300 400 500 600 700 800 900 1000 1200 yds for MOA adjustment data, all targets were large carboard with 8' peel and stick blaze orange, except for the 1200yd it was a full culligan water bottle with the peel and stick, after getting all my elevation data out to 1000yds worked out, all that was left was the jug at 1200yds i dialed in 24.7 moa and let one go, elevation was perfect but my windage was off to the right side i dialed in for a 10 mile an hour wind and then this happened, i know luck played it's part too, but after seeing what this load did at all the other yardages, i wasn't all that shocked, this was the longest shot i have ever taken in my life, and after watching that jug explode at 1200 i'm hooked, the shot measured 1.221 from center of bull,

Nice shootin' and very professional video.

I'm still learning video editing. How'd you do the titles and the frame in frame part?

Thank you, and i can only take credit for the rifle shooting, my good friend that was shooting with me that day, is starting a small hunting video production buisness, so he is the one that did all the video stuff, if you would like i can ask him or put you in touch with him, just let me know, and thanks again

Matt, about how many re-loads do you think you can get out of the .300 UM brass?

Jerid

Well Jerid, i think it has alot to do with how one goes about reloading, i get alot of loads out of my brass, but i also only size as much as i need to chamber the brass, i try real hard not to over work my brass, and i don't load to hot, i have yet to lose a piece of brass do to splits or brass failure, when the primer pockets start to loosen i pitch them and start fresh, probably not the answer you were looking for, but if i had to put a # on it i bet i get 10 loads, but i also have 300 pieces of brass for the rum so thats quite a bit of shooting,

Matt..
