300gr Berger rpm limit

Has anyone found the rpm limit for a 338, 300gr Berger?

I’m building a 338 snipetac to be a swap barrel for my 375 and plan to use solids but might see what the 300gr will do at those speeds out of a 1-8” barrel. Just curious if anyone has got to the point of blowing them up yet.

Your 8tw is a bit faster than most people are using, with 9 or 10 twist be the norm for the majority of 338 shooters, so it would be interesting to see.

I know the first release Gen1 300gr Bergers had what they called nose slump issues and above about 3000fps they wouldn't shoot well. This is going back a few years but I recall Kirby Allen testing the revised Gen2 300gr Bergers out of his 338 Allen Magnum which is his version of a 338-408CheyTac Improved and if I recall, Kirby was launching them 3350+fps and they were holding together fine but I'm pretty sure he was using a 10tw barrel too.

I've run them to +3450 fps in a 1-10" twist 36" barrel with a 338 Allen Mag. (338/408 CheyTac Imp.) and they held together at 300 yds.
I did this during load testing work-up to see where the top end was pressure wise.
A 1-8" twist will be rougher (obviously) on them than a slower twist. - The jackets on these bullets are pretty tough.
As a side note, I doubt that pushing them to the top end as far as velocity in a big CheyTac case is going to yield the best accuracy. I think 3200 or there-about's is going to be the most accurate as far as speed.

I’m guessing it would be in the 33-3400fps range with the 300. I always load for accuracy and it’s very seldom at the highest node.
