300blk anecdotes / Subsonic 300blk projectile selection

I’ve come to the end of my supply of Nosler blem 190 hpbt’s for loading subsonic 300blk and I’m looking at what’s available.

This time around I’m considering commercial cast and coated bullets.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I’ll be using IMR4227 or H110, and running them through a 10” suppressed AR.

Thanks all.

I use Hoosier bullets for my subsonic plinking rounds. The ones I use are out of stock at the moment, but they are typically available. I've had good luck with them.

Keep in mind that with coated bullets you'll most likely need to flare the neck so the coating doesn't come off during seating. I use a Mighty Armory flare die then use the Lee Factory Crimp die to make sure it's tightened up after seating.

I hope this isn't hijacking the op but for those shooting suppressed cast powder coat what suppressor are you using? I'm going to add one for the 30 cal BO . Since I'll mainly use cast powder coat I'm concerned the 30 cal cans are almost all welded. What's the quietest for the blackie?

I get subsonic solid results in my 300-BLK braced pistol with IMR 4227 and Sierra MK 30-cal 220 gr HPBT projectiles.

I'm running Berry 220's, 10.5 suppressed. They have lighter ones as well. I haven't shot them, but I wouldn't be afraid of the Blue Bullets 220 coated. They've worked well in a lot of handguns, running faster than subsonic.

I would ask what you're using it for.................

I have two 30 cal supressors...a Dead Air Nomad and a JK Armament 155 RCX. Both are quiet, I might give a slight edge to the Nomad. I'm not sure I can tell a difference in sound supression between the two, but the Nomad has a slightly lower tone.

The JK Armament is modular, every baffle can be removed/added to change the size and tone and is easy to clean...but I really don't clean it, I don't see a need. The Nomad has removable front and end caps, but doesn't break down further than that.

Alrighty, thanks guys, I got a box of the blue bullets 220’s on the way, and some .45acp samples, too.

Edit: ordered the mighty armory expander die too.

Mostly I use an Omega9k, and it’s sealed, but sometimes I use an Octane9hd if I’m shooting subs only. It’s a user serviceable 9mm can.

One thing about those Blue Bullets is they need to be seated DEEP or they may not chamber. The ogive profile is really high on them. That's why I Iike Hoosier Bullets better. Shouldn't be an issue with H110, but with A1680 my loads are compressed with Blue Bullets because I have to seat them so deep.

Thanks again to all who gave recommendations.
I’ve got a dummy and a tester round loaded up with the Blue Bullet 220 spire point over 9 grains of IMR-4227 and a CCI450 in some lake city converted brass. My OAL is at 2.125”, and the dummy seems to chamber in the AR without issue. They fit in the mag.
The powder appears to fit under the projectile. The Mighty expander did its thing a tiny bit, and the blue crayons seated smoothly. So far so good.

I don’t have my LEE FCD yet, but I cannot push these in by hand, nor did the dummy lose or gain any length after a couple bolt drops.

I’ll send one downrange tomorrow morning for a function and safety check before loading out a few more for the chronograph.

If they run.

Edit/update: they run the gun and make round holes.

Since I already started a thread I guess I’ll contain my extraneous posting to here.

If you want to post your random stuff about 300blk here, have at it.

These are most of the projectiles I’ve stuffed in a 300blk case over the years.

It might be my favorite cartridge to handload for.

It's a very unique cartridge to load for, and imo the most fun to load for. Especially with a bolt gun...when you don't have to worry about cycling, the world is your oyster.

I've been experimenting with light subsonic loads with fast, unconventional pistol powders, like N320 and Unique. Fast Powders + light bullets + supressor = giggle quiet.

I have an AR15 SBR as well as a bolt action in 300BLK...I like loading for both, but the bolt gun is super fun.

The blue bullets are shooting ok for me, about an inch at an about a hundred yards. POA was the center mounting hole.

Also, found one that I put through an eight inch log, to see, and I saw.
