trying to get 3000 fps in a 223 AR with 16 inch barrel with 1-7 twist Using 55 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips.
ive tried 28.0 grains of CFE 223 and it averaged 2900 fps . anyone reload this combo im using ?

I don't know about in a 16" but my old 4th ed Sierra manual says that a 20" 7 twist AR will get 55s to 3200 fps with their suggested hunting load of 27.2 grs IMR 4320.

The suggest accuracy load says 3000 fps with 25.1 grs IMR 4895

Just remember you are shooting an AR not a bolt gun. You will beat a AR to death chasing bolt rifle velocity.

May be pushing it hard in a 16" for 3000. In my 18" I can get 3054 fps with Tac, H335, blc2, more than that and Id be pushing it to much

Agreed, pressure will be the trick for your 16" AR. Get 3000fps and you might be beating up your brass with case head swipe. Powder change is inorder. H335 or TAC might get you there; Benchmark and N133 are my next recommendations.

CCI-450 for sure

I usually look in the pistol data section of the manuals for velocities I’m trying to achieve in a 16” ar. It’s closer to the barrel length .
