Hey all.
For anybody interested. Cherry ridge range hosts a “tactical match.” I feel this match caters to both F class and PRS shooters alike.
I’ll explain the course of fire and show some rifles and targets.
Equipment: Bolt or semi up to 338. Shooting jacket and glove allowed. No rear bags. No F class bipods. Any bipod that folds is permitted. You may also shoot off a sandbag in the front. No stocks with a forend over 3” allowed. Muzzle brakes and tuners allowed
First, you only need 31 rounds for record and all firing is done in the prone position. You never have to move once your down there. (Us F class guys like this)
First shot: Cold Bore; you have to get a single round inside a 3” circle at 300 yards. After that, a 5 minute unlimited sighting period.
Second stage: Shapes; you get 10 designated black and white shapes, similar to playing cards. You have 5 minutes to engage 10 shapes that are designated on the scoring sheet respective to your target number.
Third stage: “The shredder” 10 rounds in 1 minute at a silhouette target. This should be magazine fed but doesn’t have to be. (you won’t get 10 rounds off in 60 seconds single load, I’ve tried and best I’ve gotten was 7)
Fourth and final stage: “Know your limits”
10 rounds in 10 minutes at either a 6”, 4”, 3” or 2” circle. Any shot hitting just outside the target results in negative double the amount of points intended: Example; the 3” circle is 60 points and just outside the target is -120 points
This match is a ton of fun and I recommend it for anyone. If you can shoot off your belly you can shoot this match. If you can’t, you can shoot off the bench put can’t take the trophy home. Check out Cherry ridge range website for more info! Next match is August 20th. There’s about four or five of these matches a year.
