300 yard range in NC

Im looking for a range that you can shoot at least up to 300 yards. I am more interested on public ranges than private but in this range I not sure those exist. I could shoot at 300 plus in the hunting lease we have but there is always a season open and it gets used heavenly for 8 months of the year and the rest 4 you dont know if someone is scouting of just riding the atv's. There is a few places that it could be safe but I rather take it out of the club. We do have a established 100 yard and shooting there is fine.

There was a place called Smokey Dan's off hwy 10 would be a straight shot up hwy 16 to hwy 10 from Charlotte. I don't know if they are still in business but they had 100 out to 300 yards.

That would be sweet if it is still in operation. I can't find any online reference to it so if you come across better directions please let me know. I will keep trying to find it by other means.

Charlotte Rifle & Pistol ( actually in Waxhaw I think ) has a 300 yd range and 30+ benches.

I can only tell you what he told me. He did have a little troube understanding me due to my accent but once he understood he just told me he didnt knew a place and to do an internet search. I have found a few places that way before but they all are pricey and very "needy" of ones times. I just want a place I can go and shoot a few times a year, I dont want to pay 400+ on dues and have to volunteer the little time I have left to do my stuff. Dont get me wrong, there are people that like that and as a matter of fact back in my 20's I was in a club like that. I shot every week, we had activities, impromptu matches and seriuos matches and such... I dont need/want that now, only a safe place to shoot when working a load and to practice shoot every know and then.

Catawba Valley is a nice range and club. Good PPL! If I wasn't lucky enough to have my own range to shoot at I would be a member!

Sorta correct. Yes, the place where the hog shoot is done is not the range. But, Larry does have a range across from the shop but its private. Its also a wee bit less than 300. Not sure of the conditions for shooting there nowadays as its been years since I have shot there.

Smokey Dans is history....as of several years ago, btw.

I stand corrected then. If 200 is good enough, there is always Asheville Rifle and Pistol club on Brevard Rd. in Asheville. Members only, but membership costs are very reasonable.

I shoot 200 yds at the Spartanburg, SC public DNR range. It is 90 min drive so I wouldn't drive to asheville for 200yds. I appreciate the info anyway. Waiting for Catawba call back hopefully sometime during the week.
