300 WSM to 270 WSM

Is there any reason I can't run a 300 WSM brass through my 270 WSM die and use it in my 270WSM? it seems to size it ok. I just want to be sure. THanks for any help.

Seat a bullet and check the diameter of the "loaded" round at the neck in a couple of places. Sometimes you need to turn the necks on necked-down cases; and, then, sometimes you are lucky and you don't need to do anything but shoot them.

I neck down 270wsm brass down to 6.5 for my 6.5-300wsm,and have to clean up the necks just a little. The 270WSM is a couple thou, longer at the shoulder if I remember right, guessing it might be so you don't chamber a 270WSM in a 300WSM

Compare one of the rounds that you have shot out of your 270 wsm before ( one that you have not re-sized the neck) to the brass you formed (from the 300 wsm to 270 wsm) with a bullet in them and compare neck measurements between them. This will let you know if you need to turn the necks, or not.

I too was having a hard time finding 270 wsm brass. I found some Norma brass at custombrassandbullets.com

Not the cheapest brass by any means. But, hopefully its good and will last a while.

Norma .270 WSM brass is 2/3 the cost of their .300 WSM. :o That's why I use if to make .300 WSM cases. [br]
Attached are QL cartridge drawings for .270 and .300 WSM. The only difference is neck diameter.
