300 wsm 208 amax 3.250 col LOAD HELP!!

Ive been shooting my 300wsm with 208amax's, RL17 with so so results. The problem is I had the barrel throated for the 208's so I got a ton of room now in the case and it seems like RL17 is waay to fast. Also, the barrel is a 28" Mcgowen. What powders should I try? Im thinking of going slower like H1000 for a fuller case. Not sure on this one. Anyone else shooting something similar? Thanks!

4831 and h-1000 would work good. i stay away from the double based powders (Reloader). i think 4350 might be too fast for the 208 amax. i just loaded up some 215 berger hybrids with retumbo, i will see how that works out

Tried H1000, not bad!! Im actually able to get 77 grains in with some compression. No chrono numbers yet but def showed some promise. Im also realizing how horrible this winchester brass is. I had a bag with the lowest wieght of 224.7gr and the highest of 241.0gr. Thats insane. Would be nice to see Lapua jump on these, its def popular enough!! Oh and I worked up from 71-77gr in .5 increments and for those who say you cant get enough pressure with H1000 is wrong haha. But I could see with mag length loads it would be difficult.

I messed around with a 300WSM for a year. I used RL17, H4350, and H1000. I have come to a conclusion: 1. Get Remington or Norma brass. As you found out, Winchester SUCKS!, 2. For the heavies you definitely want to use H1000, IMR7828ssc, or Retumbo. I know the go to load for 210 Bergers is 61-63 grains of H4350, but it has a lot of pressure. I remember getting speeds of 2700fps with H1000 and 208 A-max. The A-max creates more pressure than the Berger. Not sure why. But those are my suggestions for ya.
