300 WM long neck?

XTR

F-TR obssessed shooting junkie
I saw a reference to a rifle chambered in "300WM long neck" recently and I can't seem to find anything much about how it's made. I get that it must be a wildcat of some flavor that gives the 300WM a longer neck, but how? It it a 300WM with the shoulder pushed back ala the SLRs, or is it reformed from something else.

I'm sure it's completely obvious and the neck stretcher is on the same shelf with the board stretcher, the bucket of stem, keys to the sea chest, MM punch, and the bulkhead remover.

Sounds like the 308 Norma Mag

I guess I have a 300WM Long Neck too.
I don’t trim until I’m at 2.635”, which gives me .005” til the end of the chamber. Then I trim to 2.630”.
This is how I trim/measure all of my brass. I make a chamber length gauge and KNOW what my case length needs to be prior to shooting ANY ammo through them, just another thing I do when I buy/build a rifle.
Funny thing, have had reamer prints that were wrong in this dimension.........go figure.

Cheers.

I do not know which wildcat fits the chamber you read about. Here are some in that arena (clearly it wouldn't be the far left two or the far right two cartridges; perhaps the one in the middle as two members have suggested):

300 Win Mags.jpg

Left to right: 30-338 Win. Mag., 308 Baer Cub, 308 Norma Mag., std. 300 Win. Mag., 300 Win. Mag. Ack. Imp.

It' something on Gunbroker that came up in one of my regular browsing sessions.

Just never heard of it and was curious if it was something common or not. I'm not really interested in buying but I did send a question to the seller, no answer.

Curiously interested, keep us posted on any response.
