300 Win Mag reamer for 215 Bergers and AICS mags

I am planning a 300 Win Mag build and am curious on reamers. My gunsmith has three 300 Win reamers. His shortest throat reamer puts the 215 hybrid at a coal of about 3.660" at the lands which is about 0.020" too long for an AICS magazine. He claims that this reamer has no free bore.

Is there a reamer out there that has about 0.040-0.050" less free bore than this "short throat" reamer?

Thanks!

If you are still in the "planning stages" of the build, may I suggest that you use a MAGNUM (as in for the 8mm / 416 Rem) action. That will give you all the room for the parameters you are looking for.

The magazine is the limiting factor here not the action.

If you had the right action, you could get the right magazine for it...Then your problems would be solved..

An AICS 300 Win Magazine isn't correct for a 300 Win build?

I think we are on 2 different pages, attempting to get the same thing done.. If you have a "long action" as in 30-06 length, you have an action used for all "non-magnum length" cartridges like the .264Win Mag, 7MM Rem Mag, .300Win Mag etc..etc.. Those actions use magazines to fit most hunting bullets for those cartridges. The S.A.A.M.I. max length for a .300 Win is 3.340.. So the Magazine will allow for that.. BUT if you have an action for a .300 Remington Ultra Mag (a magnum action>>NOT a long action) you should be able to get magazines that will accommodate. They have magazine wells that allow for a S.A.A.M.I. loaded round of 3.600.. You MIGHT be a "smidgen" short but not a hundred+ thousandths short.. And you might ask if they have magazines for those magnum actions that will accommodate a longer loaded round.. I hope this explanation helps us get on the same page.. ;)

This might not be quite the answer you're looking for, but i think the 230 OTM Tactical has a shorter nose. For me, 3.535" is 0.005" off the lands, fits in the AICS mag easily.

Norma brass, 73.0 gr H1000, Federal 215M. Done.

Got the rifle second hand, dont know what reamer.
