300 win mag loads long range type

Has anyone done a load for long range 300 win mag using 210 or 220 grain SMK or BERGER"S??? Just got a great build back in this caliber and don't want to reinvent the wheel here. I appreciate any help .

I use 78.7gn VihtaVuori N165 behind Berger 210gn and Scenar 185gn, both shoot under 1.5" @ 500m, on bipod.

We've got a winner with the 208gr AMAX. My buddy has shot it out to 1400 yards.

He searches other forums, and I'd never have thought of it.... but apparently there's quite a following for the 208 AMAX. Anyway, we're running 73.0 grains of H-1000 in RWS brass. (RWS has a much lower internal case volume)

Whatever you choose... I can NOT stress enough the benefit of using GOOD BRASS. We spend months trying to get a gun to shoot well with Garbage WIN and Federal brass.... Swithced to Norma and RWS and everything started popping.

I use rws brass and don't find much of reduced capacity. My load is 77 grains with the 208 amax running 2890 in a 24" rem 5r. It ran the same speeds as Winchester with equal charges.

WOW! Really???

I can barely get the bullets to seat with 73.0... at least on the first loading of the brass. Not that there's no room in the case, but the long bullet base stabs into the powder charge. I'm using a drop funnel and slowly pouring the powder into the case too.

Interesting.

so: no wind, 260 yds shooting uphill slightly, hot about 90f. out, and the 77 gr H1000 loads with 210 Berger VLD. Measured 6 shot group with a clean barrel and no sighters about 2.5 inches wide. So, what does that equate to at 100 yds?? I guess the answer is go back tomorrow in the morning, it will be cooler, and probably little wind, and shoot some more groups and try to get the group under one inch if I can. thanks for the load advice.

Another 208 A-max fan.
76gn H1000 in Win brass, Wolf LRM primer, 26" barrel, 2850fps, ES 15.
Very accurate at 1200 - 1400yds (haven't shot beyond that).

sunday, today, just shot the best group i have, used 77 gr h1000, berger 210 vkd, and new ;norma brass worked up. i think these are the three things that made this gun shoot.
