300 win mag chamber

how do most guys chamber their 300 win mag rifles? do you use a reamer that headspaces on the shoulder or one that headspaces on the belt? after talking to a smith(who is quite renowned for his work) he has a reamer that headspaces on the belt, but thought that a shoulder one would be better?
what your thoughts on this?

thanks ajax...

Belted magnums are headspaced off the belt for a reason. If you start headspacing off the shoulder and have a belted case you develope compound measurments to deal with. Why make something complex that is simple. The reamer size is constant and the belt gives your a great refrence point.

Just my two cents worth.

I agree with rustystud. When you size the brass, size to the shoulder just like it was a 308. I would like a min sized chamber, and a short throat. You can open up a small chamber but you cant make big one smaller. A short throat can be made longer. I have had lots of problems with big sloppy chambers.
