300 Win Mag Brass

What brass would you suggest for a 300 win mag? I probably will go with Norma, but have heard good things about ADG brass. Just wondering if anybody has had any positive or negative experiences with ADG. There isn't a whole lot out there about them, which might be a good reason to avoid them. The complaint about the Norma brass I have heard is that the primer pockets open up quickly on them.

Other suggestions are appreciated as well.

Thank you.

The Norma brass I have weighs considerably less than Federal so some seating depth and powder adjustments are required if switching from one to the other.

Good brass if you don’t push it hard.

Have you looked at Peterson Brass? I have never used it yet but plan on some for my .308. People that have used it say good things about it. Just another suggestion..

Federal Gold Match Magnum. I bought 350 cases here that were new, just had the bullets pulled. Less than three grains weight spread, and case neck diameter varies less than .0025".

I am just starting load work, but the batch of 500 SMK 190gr bullets got sorted in less than .2gr lots.

Be careful with the RWS stuff. I added some "new production" RWS stuff to my stash last summer, and it ain't like the older stuff........at all. The cases weighed more than 50 gr less than my "old" RWS. In fact, they weighed EXACTLY what my current Norma stuff did. After a call to the distributor, it became apparent that I had just paid over $2.00 a piece for re-badged Norma brass. The irony is that I was trying to build up enough RWS stuff to transition away from the Norma. Unfortunately, I hydro-formed them all for a wildcat before I caught it, so I'm stuck with them.

A frequent comment about all belted cases. Many are loaded to peak pressures way over spec'd maximum; moreso than other case types.

I still find it amazing that Lapua does not make 300 win mag or 7mm remington magnum brass. These two magnums are the most popular that I'm aware of in North America. Throw in the 300 WSM too.

not too many folks trying to use belted magnums in a premium case needed game. usually the belted magnum is reserved for the hunting rifle and off the shelf brass such as winchester suits them fine.

Agreed!

I was looking over my notes last night before loading and noticed how much difference seating depth played in velocity loss and gain in that same brass. Seated way out for my CIP length mag with your old Norma brass, I lost a lot of velocity and had terrible accuracy. Seated the Bullets back to standard mag length / compressed load and had excellent accuracy and velocity in that same brass!
