300 win mag and 180 gr Barnes ttsx bt

Trying to find a good load for this bullet, locally cannot get much in the way of powders and being NY it cannot be shipped to me. The one load I found was for same weight Nosler E tip but the bullets are slightly different and it suggests 61.3 gr of the 4451. I use the CCI mag primers, new unfired Winchester brass. The powders that I have are IMR 3031,4064 and 4451 I have used he 3031 and 4064 for my other 30 cal guns but I just bought a 300 win mag that I plan to use for Elk this fall. I'm in Central NY and have hit up our local gun stores and most have stopped offering reloading supplies altogether.

One of my current 300wm shoots 185 Bergers with RL25. My first one loved RL22. Rl22 seems to be in stock online but it is temp sensitive.
Other powders that are good with 180gr class would be H4831SC, RL19, Imr4831, RL26, RL23, IMR7828.
I do believe the powders you've listed are too fast burning for 300wm.
IMPORTANT, do not load 300wm way under pressure. Secondary detonation is possible.
Any of these powders will be appropriate for 300wm and 180gr.Screenshot_20200319-171346_Gallery.jpg

Thanks for the info on the powders I read all those and really want to try the 4831sc or RL 22 but being in New York and there are no real reloading shops within a few hours of me, I'm going to try a shop in Buffalo this weekend but I am expecting to strike out there as well, I may have to plan on going to the Cabela's down in Hamburg PA but that is over 5 hrs away one way. Its a state thing we cant get ammo or powder delivered and the stores that try to carry it are always out. That is why I have to use the IMR 4451 or the other two powders.

That powder is listed on Hodgdon site for 300wm.

I have had great success with TTSX bullets on game, 100% one shot kills. Whitetail never run more than 15 yards most 2ft straight down.
This bullet performs best at high velocities so might I suggest a lighter weight bullet at higher speeds with Imr4451, which will be a much more appropriate powder for 150 to 168gr bullet in your 300wm.

thank you so very much this is the data I was looking for, hopefully this powder works
Me too, let me know if you have any questions about any powder you find.

Elk are thick skinned critters, I'd like to see you use a heavier bullet at high velocities but if you get a shot under 300 yards a 150 or 168 ttsx might do the trick. Make sure you get an accurate dope on your bullet drop at different distances so you can execute an ethical shot.
Good luck.

I'm zeroing in at 200 yards and practicing at our ranch here in NY at 400 yards, I have the browning A bolt 3, with a Nikon Prostaff 5 4x16 50mm with BDC. I am playing around with materials to simulate body mass so I can feel comfortable with bullet expansion, I like the bullets accuracy and I want real info on bullet drop as well should be close temp wise on Sunday to match Colorado conditions this fall. The only thing I cant simulate is the 5000' altitude difference.

4831sc with the 180 ttsx at 3.340" COAL your safe max will be around 73 gr. This is with Federal Brass.
If you're using Rem. brass, you'll have to watch out because it's got less capacity (if I remember correctly).

Regardless of the brass make,.. start around 68 gr.

With the F.C. brass, my accuracy node was around 71.5 gr H-4831 / H-4831sc at 3.340".
But at 3.450" COAL I had to use 72.5 gr to hit the same node.
