300 RCM TO 6.5 prc

I've looked everywhere for PRC brass and think hitting the lottery would be easier. Was just wondering how difficult it would be to reform 300RCM to PRC?

The case dimensions look slightly different in several areas but I don't it's nothing a sizing die couldn't fix. Hardest part will be getting the neck sized down but even that could be handled by a couple of dedicated neck dies the the ones Hornady sells.

Say....
300 RCM brass
7mm Hornady neck die
6.5 prc seater
6.5 PRC sizer

I'm sure others will have a more informed opinion than mine.

I'd like to have a 7mm RCM so if anyone has a reamer to part with please let me know.

Which RCM are you thinking? The 300 is longer than the 338. I’ve looked at using the 300 brass run into a 338 die. Moving the shoulder back, but leaving a longer neck. Then neck it down to 7mm.

I was thinking about necking the 300 straight to 7mm. Haven't given much thought to neck length though.

Glenn, Are you set up to neck turn? With 300 RCM brass you will end up with thicker necks when sized down.

I didn't mention that, kind of assumed, but good setup for neck turning and cutting consistent case lengths is a must

My first experience with forming cases was going from 7mm Rem Mag to 6.5 Rem Mag. Luckily got the brass cheap. Definitely burned through a few finding a decent technique. Yours should be much simpler.

yes, I have several cases I have to neck turn for, the few PRC cases I have got neck turned since I'm necking them down to 6mm. I'm holding out that Hornady will come through soon with cases but I'm getting nervous
