300 OSSM

Anyone played with this or a 300 25 WSSM wildcat? I know in indianna guysuse it to deer hunt. I have a Rem model 7 in 270 WSM I want to rebarrel to a 300 wssm variant. Informal target shooting/varmint is intended plan.

Thinking about a slow twist (17) an sticking with 110-125 grain bullet range. Think 30 BR but on a WSM case.

Any thoughts or experiences?

In a short action bolt gun like you describe, I think the 300 OSSM would work pretty good. I have an Olympic AR chambered for it and the real limitation is mag length. With a short action gun, that problem goes away. I think you have a good idea.

My gunsmith(Kevin Weaver) made one for his daughters and he loves it. He also says it shoots real good.

The 300 wssm is not legal in Indiana for deer.
You might be thinking of the 358 wssm which I shoot.
Albert Clark is shooting a 300 wssm with 125 gr bullets and is getting great groups and 4000 fps.
