300 OSSM

From what I understand, basically a necked up 25 WSSM. Does anyone have any experience with it? I'm looking for a compatable round to re-barrel a 223 WSM.

OK. Will get back to you on load specifics. What I am currently loading is a 150 grain ProHunter with 8208 XBR. It gives me a muzzle velocity just a tad over 3000 fps.
I am shooting this from an AR 15. As such, magazine length is a real issue. With a standard WSSM magazine, I think you would be a lot less limited with respect to bullet selection.

There is probably slightly more length in the wssm magazine but it's not going to be much. I initially bought a factory Model 70 when they were doing a dump on the wssm's with the idea of rebarreling it to a wsm. Surely they wouldn't make a dedicated wssm action. That's what I get for buying something that I haven't looked at, it tends to make one a lot smarter On the + side that Win barrel is super accurate although it's hard to believe looking at every cutter track in the barrel. My 1st thought was "this thing will never shoot" Wrong again. I guess that we're just too accustomed to seeing beautifully lapped barrels.

They used the 223 rem in the super short action also so you might be able to use some of the benchrest cartridges.
