300 Norma Magnum sizing issue

I bought some once fired 300 Norma brass .My Redding body die wont size 7 rounds ,You cant close the bolt handle with out allot of force. The body die is all the way down. The length of the brass is 2.490 ,same as the other brass that is chambering without issue.I am using Redding die set s bushing die.7 ROUNDS OUT OF 280. Would a full length sizer make a difference?

No I don't belive it will. You need to measure a fired case with a Hornady headspace comparator. Then measure one that won't fit to see if it's the shoulder being too long. If not that I bet the backend is not sized enough. Matt

ok once I measure those .Then what can the brass be sized to fit my chamber? most likely it was a more generous chamber.so what to do toss the brass?

as you size these 7 pieces of brass , does the die contact the shellholder when it's completely up ? sometimes the brass is hard enough to cause the die to gap away from the shellholder . if this is the problem all you can do is turn the die down a little more .

How much play do you have between the case and she'll holder ? You could use a feeler gauge under the brass base and above the shell holder . Just to see if it'll chamber .

I changed the die out moved it to the next hole in my Redding T-7.I also changed to a RCBS shell holder,I was using Redding competition shell holder. And I put a hornady lock ring on.I body sized the brass kept turning the die down.I got six sized down and chambering good. The last one was a reel pain I turned body size another 1/8 and pop.The bolt holding my turret on broke the cam over was stout so I will be calling Redding Monday.

You need to get a Hornady heads pace tool. Measure a case after firing and then bump them .001 to .002. You can rub your shell holder on a piece of sandpaper and remove a little off the top if your die won't bump. That way you don't have to cam so hard. Matt
