300 gr A-Tip in 338 LM. What powder to start load development?

Friend wants to start load development for the new 300 gr A-tips once they're available. We used H1000 before for 300 SMKs and 285 ELDMs. Is there a better choice for load development on the new A-Tips? I suspect powder availability may become a factor in choosing.

Hoping someone here has been doing some pre-release testing and can speak from experience.

Pretty much all the powders that are the most difficult to get are going to be your best choices. N570, RL33, Retumbo and H1000 will all suit you well and your best velocity will likely be in that same order as well.

Whatever works for other 300 gr bullets will work the same for the A-tip.

I've been doing alright with WC860 with the 300 gr Berger and 285 gr Hornady

RL33 can push 300 Berger's to 2850fps in 338 Lapua loaded to a CIP magazine. I would expect similar with the A-Tips.

I have Retumbo, US 869 and some surplus WC 872. If I had no powder I would use RL33 it is far above the rest for 338 lap.

Found some good prices on RL33 so 8 lbs are on the way.

BTW: Are you hearing any whispers about when 338 A-Tips might be hitting the shelves?

Powder Valley shows they have the .30 cal 230 and 250 in stock, but they don't even list the .338s or any .338s from Hornady. So a first guess answer is "not very soon."

Bullets and powder arrived. RL-33 and Lapua brass. Going to start around 88 gr and work up, probably spend half a box of A-tips just getting it to where it shoots well. Any suggestions on how to shortcut that process. Stock Savage 112 in 338 LM.
