30 PPC????????????????

Anyone here have practical experience with 30 PPC or 30-6.5 Grendel? I'm looking to build a sub-sonic 30 cal bolt rifle, but I'd like it to have a little extra punch with supersonic loads as well. I'm probably looking at a 1-8" twist. How will that affect accuracy with 130-150gr bullets? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of accuracy you're looking at? You could consider 7.62x39, since there's reamers for regular .308" barrel instead of .311". Much less hassle with brass, and most dies come with two decapping pins, one for .308 and one for .311.

I don't know if there's commercial ammo with .308 bullets available,for plinking etc.)

As for the twist, the standard AK twist,IIRC 1-9.5") will stabilize *subsonic* loads up to 220-240gr just fine. And AKs also run semiauto if you use right powder...,at least silencer attached)

I have to back up a little on that stabilizing issue... talked with a friend who was using 240gr pills, and turned out he wasn't, they were also 220gr.

So I don't know if AK barrel,presumably 1-9.5") will stabilize subsonic 240gr or not.
