i got a 30.06 doner rifle and used the action and stock. i got it from my father in law, and he only shoot the thing 20 times. so... the barrel is in good shape. i wanted to make a neat little upper for my Ar-15, so i thought... why not .30 carbine. i saw though, in a reloading magazine, that the .30 carbine is a 7.62 x 33. but... when you look at .30 carbine bullets, they are classified as .307", not .308".
can i shoot these out of the 30.06 barrel,, after rechambering of course) and still acheive good accuracy? is there really any difference in the bullets? can i load .308 200grn spire point bullets into a .30 carbine case and make a cool little round out of it? thoughts anyone? thanks brian
also, does anyone know what size the base is on this cartridge? i need to know what kind of bolt will work with it. thanks
