30 CAL FREEBORE.

Chambering up a boomer....300 mag of some sort. 1-9 twist 29 inch 1.25 strait taper....bought the tube today. Single shot BAT. Trying to figure out a freebore for heavies. I have a .334 tight neck 300 WBY reamer that has a .264 freebore. That puts the OAL of a 300 WBY just over 4 inches with the 215 Hybrid. LOTS of room for powder!!! The lightest bullet I will shoot will be a 200 HB and I have lots of 208, 210, 215, 220 and 230 Bergers along with lots of 240 SMK's and some 230 and 250 A tips. Not sure of the chambering of this new toy....either going to be a 300 RUM or 30-338 Lapua AI. Not going with a tight neck this go around.

Anybody see an issue with that long of a freebore?? Like I said.....single shot BAT M

I'm getting out of the comp world.....shooting up all of my components. The list above is what I have on the shelf I need to properly "dispose" of. I don't plan on buying any more.

IDUNNO....I have been loading and shooting the 300 WBY for over 30 years....maybe I should just chamber up one less the .334 neck.

Problem is the bullets you listed have a big range of bearing surface. Those two cases move throats fast so maybe start out with .200fb and shoot the 200 and 215 and as the throat wears switch to longer bullets.

A good example is 300 NM
It’s got a good FB from the get go for heavies
Usually .220 to .240ish but if you’re considering 245’s the above recommends is solid.
