Let's see, where do I start... After testing to find the best powered load I just reloaded 100 rounds of ammo using Speer 110gr Jacketed HP bullets that shoot very well. Then I ordered 1,000 bullets from Bayou Bullets and spent the last few days trying to get them to work in my rifle and no luck. I've tried different powder measurements and lengths of the casings with no luck. Finally last night I though it through and decided it has to be the bullets. I removed the coating on 15 bullets and it cured my problem of the rifle jamming and not cycling right. My guess is they're cast the right size and then this dip coating added makes them to large for my rifle. I like about a half inch each time of going into battery. You can bump it each time with your hand to lock it up and then the next round it's stuck again. This is a 80 year old Inland that's correct and like new yet. My friend who has a Universal has no problems with using them with the coating. My plan is to give these bullets to the friend and find something with a jacket to load for range time but I was wondering what you thought ? Could this bullet be set in the casing a little deeper to allow it to lock up ? If so I'm thinking even the lower powder charges recommended would be compressed ? I just think it might be better to give these away and back up to something else.
