Which powder and how much did you use ?

Bill, I have fireformed quite a bit with different cartridges so I am pretty comfortable working up the charge until i see what I want in the brass. What works best for me is 31grs of Lt 31. I would not hesitate to use Varget or similar 6br powders.

Savage style nut

The reason I asked about the barrel style is because a few years back, a glut of Savage nutted barrels got dumped into the market. The reamer dimensions were a mess, to put it mildly. Most of them were marked '30 Bench Rest' rather than '30BR' which is the more common reference.

I'd suggest doing a Cerrosafe cast of the chamber to start with, followed by a good inspection with a bore scope. Also, check the barrel twist with the 'cleaning rod method'.

If you like, feel free to send me the chamber cast. Be aware that Cerrosafe with grow about .002-.0025 after about 200 hours. Where are you located?

SW Mo and the gunsmith just engraved it with 30 Benchrest here recently so I’m not sure if it’s one and the same as what you suggest Cabela’s had it sent out to be engraved and a chamber cast done I plan on reaching out to them and asking about it
