30 BR...30 Major Max Barrel Length

Interesting. What is the downside other than potential gun handling problems if it knocks the balance point too far out of whack? In Ricks case with a 17 pound gun, I just don’t see an issue. Inquiring minds want to know @WSMNUT

That was my concern Bill, optimal powder burn with the barrel being that long......Thanks for chimin' in....

Here you go guys. Straight from the builder.

With a 30BR, getting proper case fill is never a problem with N130, H4198, H322, etc so this is a pretty much a non issue. With any of those powders the problem is usually the opposite where guys are using long drop tubes to try to get more powder in the case.

Each situation is different and there is more than one way to do this and get good results. If I was in Ricks shoes with a 17 pound gun I know what I’d do and it wouldn’t be the short barrel. There is nothing to lose and potentially much to gain. This is why we test and tinker.

Now how about tinkering with a 22 lb gun.....LOL Just pulled
the TDL rifle off the scale. Just under legal !! Think a long 7BR
but made from a 284 case. No drop tubes need apply......LOL

Looking at the TDL relay sheet, looks like Jim and Rick shoot
side by side on the first relay. Don't forget to bring a sun towel
to hang.....See Yinz in a week !!
