30-30 cases good/bad

The other night i sized and reloaded a bunch of my 30-30. i had another post on it, crippled cases. after i sized them i ran them thru the ultrasonics again to clean off the size lube, then stuck them in the oven at 150-200 f to dry them. usually i let them sit in there for about 20-30 minutes to make sure they're nice and dry, problem is an old friend showed up and we got to BSing. they sat in the oven for about 2 hrs. would this be a problem? am i at risk for weak cases? i only have one 30-30 and you guessed it, a winchester lever action. I've reloaded them a few times and they're older but i just didn't want to chuck them if they're still good.

Those things headspace on the rim. I doubt, even if "cooked" they would be a problem.

Seat some bullets and if tension is good...shoot.

200 degrees won't hurt them, and as long as they didnt change colors your OK...
Ever watch an oven come up too temp? Or maintain it's temp?
That coil on the the bottom gets red hot and the heat from it dissipates into the oven cavity too reach that 200 degree temp.
I think the coil gets a might hotter than 200,,

I did the very same thing with some 308 brass once, I didn't "toss" them. I crushed the shoulder with a pliers so they could no longer be used by anyone and added them to the scrap bucket.
Scrap brass is $2 a pound nowadays. An Ice Cream pail full is worth $30.

Sorry stebbins, I think you know the answer,, I would NOT and DO NOT take even the slightest chance with brass.
The Brass IS the link between the explosion and the bullet.

Why risk damage to your gun at the least, or fingers, face and eyes at worst, just too salvage $15 or less worth of brass?

Necchi i think ill do just that. Im not worried about buying the brass, this was the only brass i had on hand and i had wanted to shoot the gun. Well crushed necks and scap metal they now are.

FWIW
I have dried my brass in the sun for years, safely.
( on a towel )

I can tell you it gets HOT, but no worries, never damaged.

Needs a couple of hours, as I don't clean the primer pockets, and that
soot is the last thing to dry.

Michael
