My 30.06 will not feed a round after the first one. It seems as if the bolt does not come back far enough to push the round forward. Any suggestions?

Is the mag cutoff in the down position?

Left side of action, look for mag cut-off that should be labeled "off." It should be pulled outward from the stock for "on". Effectively it prevents the bolt from moving far enough back to pick up the next round.

I remember when my late and great Dad would take his out to the range. He pointed out that very option on his rifle and I thought it was cool. Man his rifle was accurate. I still have it, but don't take it out anymore. I remember him shooting a groundhog back in W.Va when I was a kid at over 227 yards with the peep sight. Of coarse, I thought my Dad was the greatest shot.

I have tried your suggestion and moved the "off switch" to the "on" position and the bolt comes out. Any other thoughts?

Your bolt should not come out when the switch is in the on or off position. It has to be placed in between the On/Off position before the bolt can be removed. My guess is you might have an incorrectly fitted mag cutoff switch. Was this rifle a converted drill rifle by chance?

The magazine cutoff/bolt release should be all the way up against the receiver to allow the bolt to come back far enough to pick up a round from the magazine.
