30.0 Varget, am I slow?

6br 1-8, 24'' tube, br4s, 108 bt t - light jam, 150 rounds on tube, 30gr Varget is getting 2785 fps. It loses accuracy over this.
The main site lists this load at about 2885. Will it pick up 100 fps after break in? Maybe a slow batch of powder?
I'm not concerned about the speed, just wondering.

2,785 is a little on the slow side.

All barrels are different though, with things like bore/groove diameters, chamber dimensions, throat diameter, free bore, twist rate, lead angle, etc..

Loads are also different, and what one barrel shows, the next one may not even come close.

In a B-R, accuracy comes before velocity, at least for me anyways.

Some barrels are "slow" and always will be, regardless of load!

A change in powder and primers could easily gain you an extra 100 fps., but then that is not carved in stone.

Are you maxed out with your components?

My favorite 6BR rifle has a 26 in barrel and my load is 30.1 grains of Varget, with a 108 Berger seated about .008 into the lands. Velocity is right around 2800 and accuracy is excellent, I have won a number of matches with this rifle. I learned a long time ago accuracy trumps velocity. Every time I have pushed velocity to the limit to try to get less wind drift for better accuracy I have regretted it.

Well ??? me too.
2 Dasher 100 % all same Parts Makers etc .
One is slower and shots well at 600 yards with less power?????
Waiting to see if it speeds up ?????

I struggled to get to 2800 in my 24" 1:8 barrel with my lot of Varget and 107smk. I needed 2800 to stay supersonic at 1K while another rifle was being built. Was shooting 30.3gr with 550 rds on the barrel to get 2820fps.

Dropping velocity down proved better precision in my gun.

I believe your speeds are right on the money. Mine was 2775 with stellar accuracy. Carry on and enjoy it.
