3 watt LED minimag for borescope

A few months ago I finally dove in and got a borescope. I agree with everyone who has one--why did I wait so long? I don't clean a barrel without it. The focusing eyepiece and angled eyepiece are worth the money too.

I saw on a different shooting site that Nite Ize makes a 1 watt LED replacement for the mini maglite and said its brighter and whiter than the regular bulb.

But when I was looking for one in the store, I saw Maglite now has a 3 watt LED flashlight, so I picked up one. The bulb bell is a little longer, and has more threads, but the thread pattern is the same. A quick comparison down the barrel showed much brighter and whiter than the Maglite shipped with the borescope. Worth ~$24 for a brighter light? I think so. The LED flashlight is about 3/8" longer than the regular, but it can still be wedged into the foam. Or some foam carving will open up the slot for it to fit. I'll do that some day.

Glad it works for you. But the credit goes to a post on benchrest central for the Nite Eyes LED that got me shopping, and I then found the 3 watt Minimag.
You're right, the whiter light helps the copper show better.
Luckily my new Benchmark barrel in 6mm Dasher does not copper at all. Its slowly picking up some carbon, but the GM TEC and Boretec Eliminator are doing a pretty good job keeping it at bay. After about 100 rounds I'll most likely use a little JB to clean it up.
