3 old timers

Got a couple more "heavyweights".
Shot the 11.8 pounder yesterday at an even 400 yards. Then today I shot the 13.3 pounder at 326 yards.
On my previous photos, I was asked to provide something for reference so I have placed my 50 round ammo box next to the bodies for perspective.

Nice....I have not seen a hog here in two weeks....they seem to have gone undergraound. It has been in the 30s a couple nights

Great shooting Bill, and thxs for sharing. Arizona could use some help to lower the coyote population....good luck, safe travel.

Very nice Bill! Judging by the fat on those critters may be another bad winter. They are chowing down around here like no tomorrow. Any idea how long that 14.5 pounder was? I shot one this past July that measured 27 inches stem to stern. I had a tape in my truck to measure. Made my son carry it across the field after we kept looking at it and thinking "yeah we better measure this one as he's big". I like your digital scale, what make or where did you buy?

Frank

Nice fat hogs. Thanks for putting something in the picture for perspective... should help the people who don't get to shoot 'chucks an idea of how big they can get. dedogs

Thanks for all the positive comments, Guys.

I have no idea how long any of the big chucks have been. I guess I need to put a tape measure in my ammo bag along with the scale.

Frank, I bought the scale on Amazon, got 2 for under $10 IIRC. I keep one in my ammo bag and the other hangs in my reloading area to weight rifles, suppressors, etc. Made in China and shipped from China. But since they agree on weight, I have to assume they are accurate.

We leave for Arizona on Oct 19 and will be there for 6 months. Yes, I would love to reduce the coyote population while there. But it seems that all I get to kill there is paper and steel. :-\ Oh well, at least I get to shoot year round.

Darn Bill The day I hunted with you, you only let me shoot at the little ones that are hard to hit!
Stan

LOL, Stan. Yeah, it does seem that way. I took you to BIG fields where we could watch a lot of ground - chances of seeing hogs were better but due to my hunting pressure, they didn't get a chance to grow large and heavy.

These big ones have come from small out of the way fields that have not had a lot of hunting pressure.

I hear ya, Stan. The only time groundhogs are that size are when the pups first see the light of day.

It has been a poor season for me woodchuck-wise. We leave for Arizona on Oct 19 and I still need to shoot 7 more 'hogs just to get to 200 for the season. And it sure would be nice if I could shoot 21 more before we leave - that would make 1200 over the past 4 seasons.
