On a work trip to Idaho this week and I was able to head out to the hills west of Boise and grab 3 hours of shooting before dark tonight. About 120 of the little guys displayed varying degrees of explosivness before I had to pack it up.
Shoot one, then come back to him a few minutes later and shoot the one that's eating him
Rifle is a Tika .223 595 varminter/Sightron SIII 8 x 32 loaded up with 50gr SBK's pushed by benchmark to 3500 fps out of a lapua case. I load them up on my LNL progressive using the forester neck bushing and benchrest seater dies. Primer pockets are tight so I pre-prime. I'm able to load up several hundred rounds in a morning's session with this method. I do my accuracy loading on the co-ax but just don't have time to do hundreds of rounds on it.
These little guys are about 1/3 the size of an adult PD. Once the wind died down I had no problem connecting at 250 yards.
That pivoting shooting bench was da bomb - I could scan back and forth across the hillsides through my scope using my legs to slowly pivot the bench. It was also a more steady platform in the wind than I had expected.
Off to SD for PD's next week!
