Hit one of my ranches that called and said coyotes all over, they are swarming like flys on the ranch and killed a old cow.
Nothing like good news (bad for the cow) that there is a dinner table to shoot over.
Saturday I shot a single and a pair within a short time frame. Left the single where it dropped at 624 pm and the 3 that came in at 850 pm never gave it a second sniff, well all 3 sniffed it I guess that would be a 3rd sniff? I counted 11 others that didn't make it close enough & were headed to different areas, left at 945 pm.
Monday night at the same spot. Cow has been hit hard in 2 days as its internals are gone & rib cage is being hit good.
1 dropped at 615 pm on the cow as it walked around deciding where to eat, nice broadside shot.
3 came in at 635 pm, walked all over/around it never holding still for 4 min, others doing the same not wanting to stick their heads into it all in a line for me..hahhah.
Here we go...thwapp 1st one stopped broadside left of cow drops, the others trot a few yards and look back...thwap...#2 drops when it turned around and gave me another broadside shot, # 3 is trotting off but not in full afterburner...looking back it stops, but moves as I shoot....Thwap it looks like a rear leg hit as it spins, then goes a running...I bark it turns and looks back, heck it looks like 300+ yds out, I put the cross hair on top of the body...TTHHWAPP drops.
After it took me 15 min to find it, my last shot hit just behind the ear and was DRT. It was about 370+ yards also.
45 min later 2 singles come in within seconds from different directions, I drop the one that hits the cow 1st.
the other stops at about 200 yds in the tall grasses & melts away.
I counted 16 total before I left at 1030pm.
Like the night before the others were headed in different directions as well.
VERY VERY VERY..COOOOOLD both nights, thankful for thermals & insulated outfits & heat packs!
All my digi pics were fuzzy due to the cold I think and not keeping it a inner pocket to stay warm.
