2nd Amendment wins in election yesterday

As the election returns came in on November 4 one thing was evident—the Second Amendment crushed gun control candidates in Senate and gubernatorial races around the country.

In so doing, the Second Amendment annihilated the left's relentless claim that 90 percent of Americans support more gun control.

On the gubernatorial level, in Arizona, pro-Second Amendment candidate Doug Ducey (R) beat gun control candidate Fred DuVaul (D). And in Florida, pro-Second Amendment incumbent Rick Scott (R) beat gun control candidate Charlie Crist. These victories were enhanced by the fact that Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly endorsed DuVal and Giffords' gun control PAC gave $100,000 to Crist's campaign.

The Second Amendment trumped their endorsement and their money.

In Texas, NRA-endorsed gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott (R) won. In Maryland, NRA-endorsed gubernatorial candidate Larry Hogan (R) won. In Alabama, NRA-endorsed Governor Robert J. Bentley (R) won. In Wisconsin, NRA-endorsed Governor Scott Walker (R) won. In Michigan, NRA-endorsed Governor Rick Snyder (R) won. In Nevada, NRA-endorsed Governor Brian Sandoval (R) won. In Ohio, NRA-endorsed Governor John R. Kasich (R) won. In Oklahoma, NRA-endorsed Governor Mary Fallin (R) won. In Wyoming, NRA-endorsed Governor Matt Mead (R) won. In Idaho, NRA-endorsed Governor Bruce Otter (R) won. In Kansas, NRA-endorsed Governor Sam Brownback (R) won. And in Maine, NRA-endorsed Governor Paul R. LePage (R) won against gun control candidate Michael Michaud (D). (On August 8, Breitbart News reported that Michaud was supported by Gabby Giffords.)

In Senate races, gun control Senator Mark Udall (D-CO) was defeated by NRA-endorsed Cory Gardner (R) and gun control Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC) was defeated by NRA-endorsed Thom Tillis (R). In Kansas, NRA-endorsed Senator Pat Roberts (R) won. In Georgia, NRA-endorsed Senatorial candidate David Perdue (R) won. In Arkansas, NRA-endorsed Tom Cotton (R) won. And in West Virginia, NRA-endorsed Shelley Moore Capito (R) won, marking the first time that state has sent a Republican Senator to Washington DC in over five decades.

The spotlight was also on the race between NRA-endorsed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and pro-gun control challenger Alison Grimes (D). McConnell won handily.

NRA-endorsed Senatorial candidate Joni Ernst (R-IA) also won.

On November 3—the day before the elections took place—Breitbart News reminded red state and pro-Second Amendment voters to vote like their guns depended on it. They did. And as result, the Second Amendment won the day, Republicans won the Senate, and gun control took a beating.

He's (Wolf) already said they are going to BAN assault rifles !! Not looking very bright in PA's future gun battles !!

I have warned my PA friends that they are in the warming water like a frog over a fire. I live in NY and I see they have been headed our way for years. They have gone DEM for years, and they fall for the "labor vs management" tripe from the DEMS like they drink Iron City and eat pirogies! (BTW, I say that as a diehard Steeler fan..so give me a break). Over and over they have said that the PA hunters would never give up and are powerful, but they have game laws from the 1900's and they failed to run off the Wolf! PA is only 10 years behind NY and gaining fast. That is my perspective as a soldier lost behind enemy lines here in NY.

Death by a thousand cuts. It's the anti hunting and anti firearm lobbies' MO.
One little piece of "common sense regulation" at a time until it's all gone.

We lost a big initiative here in Washington state.
As of December 4th we will have mandatory background checks for EVERY firearm transfer, including loaning your hunting rifle to your son, or friend!
Its a ridiculous law that will be impossible to implement. I feel the NRA bailed out on this one early. Supporters had millions of dollars from Bill Gates, Steve Balmer, and Paul Allen just to name a few.

Yep, Washington lost big time. Once again the ignorant masses are pushed into panic mode by fear-mongering parasites without understanding exactly what they're doing. The school shooting we had recently probably cemented the vote IMO. Might have to move to Texas.

Wait till 2016 when a lady named Hillary runs. I have recently talked to a lot of ladies just to see where it is headed in 2016 and they are all for Hillary.

Maybe we should rename the election to a##hole eradication day ????? Might catch on.

I saw a truck loaded with donkeys leaving DC today :)

Ray

Well I do declare! Ray I saw that same truck headed North, LOL!

Hopefully people are starting to realize what type of environment the Democrats have created for the last 6 years.
Food prices going through the roof, retirement funds evaporating before their eyes, along with everything else one can think of!

Maybe they are starting to think for themselves and realize what there actions have caused in the near past, God I hope so! I just have a hard time understanding how so many people can be so stupid!

The Supreme Court is the defender of 2nd Amendment rights.

Not elections, not politics.

Go back and refresh your memory on its last few decisions so you don't forget who's actually responsible for upholding your rights. :)

It is true that the Supreme Court is the holder of the keys if you will regarding second amendment rights. Keep in mind though that it was not until 2008 that the Supreme Court ruled that the 27 words in the second amendment in fact gave individuals the rights to bear arms. Prior to that even English majors struggled with the ",s" regarding what right, militia, citizen etc.

The real shorter term problem though and which we do need to think about voting and how gets into office is the interpretation of the laws and the fact that we have "States Rights" that can be stricter than federal law (though not in direct violation of the constitution) and in some cases even county laws or city laws.

A longer term problem and one that is not all the feasible, but we must consider is possible, is that the Founding Fathers developed a constitution that can be amended legally. Not easy to do, but we should think about who we elect and what they might support in the future.

I have conservative friends that care about Big Government, Wasteful Spending, Forced new laws, immigration etc., but do not own or care about guns. Some of which that hate lobbyists and are not fond of the NRA. Although mostly, this is not a 100% Democrat issue as you need to lump in some anti-gun moderates, centrists and even republicans.

Here in New York, you can still own guns, you can get a concealed weapon permit, albeit a long process and very difficult for NYC or any city over 1 million population, but what kind of guns you can have and how many is regulated depending on where you live with both state county and city regulations.

If our governor could totally have his way, his interpretation of the 2nd amendment would be to let every US citizen that is a New York resident to own one smooth bore single shot musket, what was available when the founding fathers wrote the constitution.

As expected though, with as many upstate gun owners and republicans outside of the major population centers, not enough came out to vote to defeat him. I know that in New York City elections my vote will PROBABLY not make a difference, but I still stand in line and do it, full of hope.

The Democrats in the areas that I live are as passionate against gun ownership as we are for it and they got more of their like minded friends turned out to vote.

And who is it that nominates those justices and who confirms them, and how do they get into their positions of power?

That's why there's NINE, and some do have a mind uninfluenced by politics. There are a few good guys on the Supreme bench. Not everyone is a whore of the system. :)
