29 max? 6mmbr

The hodgdon website says that max load for 6mmbr is 29.0C but all you guys say 30grs is the go and it will bring a smile to your face. I was thinking about giving it a go but i was just woundering if it was save. Im using 107smk's lapua cases and cci br2 primers.

That is because many of us are Yanks.

You just need to apply the Aussie Translation Algorithm (ATA) to forum postings. All references to US-marketed ADI powders will be correctly translated to Aussie-standard nomenclature. ;)

Varget sometimes has considerable lot-to-lot variation. Every time I switch lots the loads are tested in a short series. It is likely that 2208 is the same, so there is probably some difference.

Hodgdon's load for the 107 was at 2.25" COL, which is why it was compressed. With a longer freebore appropriate for a 107, the COL could be longer. Chris, you said in another post that you are using a 2.39" COL for example. This longer COL makes for effectively a larger case than the one that Hodgdon was using. This is one of the reasons that others have recommended more than 29 of Varget, the extra effective capacity of the longer COL.

I'd recommend working your loads up carefully Chris, don't just jump up to 30. You are getting alot of velocity for just 25.5gr so you may have a very fast lot of powder there. Work up while chronographing and looking for pressure signs, normal reloading practices of course.
