Sharing my testing since there isn't a lot of data available for the 284 and R16. Info is for reference only. @ShootDots gave me a starting point that was very helpful. If testing start low and work your way up.

.235 free bore, Peterson brass, BR2 primers and 180 Hybrids jammed .005" (stripped bolt method). 50 degrees and 700ft elevation. 30" 1:9 barrel, 520yds test distance.

49.6gr 2835fps
49.9gr 2843fps
50.1gr 2866fps
50.3gr 2877fps
50.5gr 2873fps
50.7gr 2886fps
50.9gr 2900fps
51.1gr 2910fps started to see some pressure signs

Flat spots between 49.6-49.9 and 50.1-50.3

Will do further testing with 49.7gr and 50.1gr against my known load of 53.8gr H4831SC to see which shoots smaller.

Good shooting

Don't miss out on trying a little less velocity. I suggest also testing charges that sweep through 2790-2830fps so you won't skip over a potential very sweet spot.

Mr.Jet I have a 284 with a bartline 8.7 twist shooting the 180 hybrid with R-16 br2.Mine seemed to shoot almost the exact same load last time I shoot it was Oct.last year.I was using 49.8 yielding 2825 with lab radar.I really like R-16 it’s very consistent and more forgiving than H-4350 IMO.
