.284 Winchester OAL 180 Bergers

Can somone please let me know what overall length you are using with the .284 and 180 bergers.
My barrel a 5R 1 in 9 32" Bartlein barrel has arrived and the gun smith has asked me for a dummy round to throat the barrel.
I want to keep the bullet out of the donut area, but how deep do you guys seat the Bergers upto this point.
If it helps my powder of choice will be H4831SC but will test with Reloader 17.
Please can you let me know your OAL to the bullet tip not ogive as compurators do vary.

I recently had the same problem. The round I sent was 3.225" OAL. That seated the full diameter .25 into the neck and allowed for a little seating tolerance as the throat wears.

My barrel is a 9" x 30" Brux MTU contour. A second barrel for the same rifle is a 10" x 32" Bartlein MTU for .308.

If you're looking for a throat length, I used a dimension of .187 with a .0005 clearance on the diameter. This leaves the boattail of the bullet below the neck/shoulder junction. The 180 is a long bullet and a throat cut for this bullet may preclude using any of the lighter weight (below 168 grains) 7mm bullets unless you jump them a bunch.
