284 Winchester - Krossdal

Hi guys
Just wanted to share my last build with you. I recently put together a complete Krossdal rifle in 284 Winchester RBLP. The action is made by DCR in UK (branded for us), Sassen barrel, 9 twist. John at DCR chambered the barrel and fitted it to the action. I'm using Whidden V-block (but I glass bedded around the recoil-lug), Atlasworxs bottom metal and ACCURATE-MAG magazine. It has a STEINER M5Xi 5-25x56 scope, freyr & devik suppressor and Atlas 5-H bipod. B&T supply us with the ACCU-SHOT monopod that was originally made for Accuracy International but now we use it in all our stocks.

I've started the load development for it.. Been using Nosler 140 BT and Vihtavuori N160 with quite success I think - constantly shooting 0.3-0.4 MOA. Now I'm working on some loads with the 180 Berger VLD Hybrid and N160. I've got few more steps to go to make that bullet shoot as good and hopefully better (I'm in the 0.4-0.5 MOA range right now).

I'm totally new to 284 Winchester but I couldn't be happier about it.. really looking forward to compete with it in near future.

I use it for artic fox hunting. Also use it on the shooting range in the night time.

How do you find the Sassens barrel, I have heard mixed reports about them since they are no longer Border barrels.?? I have a GB Barrels barrel in 7mm Rem Mag that is an absolute hammer.

I've assembled two other rifles from the same batch, KRO-0002 and KRO-0005 both in 6.5x47 Lapua and they also have Sassen barrels.
This here are the first groups from KRO-0002.
The first group is shot with Lapua Scenar-L 136gr. and the second one is shot with Lapua Scenar-L 120gr - both loads are factory ammunition. Shoot at 100m.

Lapua factory ammo is good but that’s nice shooting. I will look at a Sassen for my next barrel,

Not anymore. Two or three years ago it was finally allowed but you still have to apply for a license to get one and it's registered as a gun with the serial number.
