284 Win RL17 or Hybrid100V

Ok fella's need some ideas here, I have a pound of each sitting here and will be rolling some 284 Win and 162 A-Max in the near future and would like to know if anyone has played with either of the combinations? the COL of these rounds will be 3.100" give or take a couple thou. so I should have a bit more room than the standard 2.800" anything to get me started would be a big plus. i looked on quickload and i would try your 100v first starting at 50 grains and working up to 53gr. out of a 28" barrel they say it should push 2925 with the r-17 you could expect 2975 at 51.8gr. but it doesnt come close to filling up your case.

Dang the luck! I ran into the same problem with my 243 ended up going the Retumbo route to get the case full and oh it does it well! I guess the hunt is still on. Thanks,

Well sir I'll post up anything that seems to work as soon as I get this thing done! you will probably beat me to the punch but that's cool. Believe it this is a hunting rifle, little barrel, 26" lentgh. After carrying my 243 at #13 and some change pounds around for deer I had to opt for another route and the 284 just fit and different enough to be fun. Plenty of range and thump once it gets there and while the 243 I know where it's gonna hit I have a little thought the bullet might not do what it's supposed to out there a ways.

I am using RL-17 in a .284. It has a 26" #6 broughton barrel with a 1:9 twist. I have to use 54.3gr of RL17 with 162gr AMAXs to reach 2900fps. The annoying part is that accuracy decreases with that load and I have to back it off to 2850fps for best accuracy. I have loaded 55grs and still not reached a compressed load with RL17, but had high pressure at that point.

i posted that i was useing a 28" barrel not a 31" so if you have a problem with my numbers contact me
