284 Win: Dies for Win or Lapua brass

I have a straight 284Win with a Norma chamber.

I have been using Winchester brass, but will be moving to Lapua.

I have been using a Hornady FL 284 sizer die.

What are you 284 shooters using, a 6.5-284norma die and a 7mm bushing? I assume my Hornady die is for the original win chamber, so it is sizing the base of the lapua case(since their base measurement is larger than Win brass?)

In 308- if you go from Win brass to Lapua you typically drop the charge .5 grain, anybody know if that is similar for the 284 going from Win to Lapua brass.

Thanks

Morgen

I don't think you need to change your die just because you switch brass. You need your die to fit your barrel chamber, not the brass. The brass is going to expand to fit the barrel chamber and your resizing die needs to be able to properly resize it from those dimensions. So, if your current die is working fine for your current barrel, it should be fine when you switch to Lapua brass.
