Starting some load work up on a straight 284 Quick Load shows 2730-2750 for 50.0-50.4 of 4831sc

If I remember correctly 2700-2750 is a pretty good node correct? what is real world MV's with that load?

Whats been some common nodes?

Using necked up Lapua

Thanks

I believe that the 50.0 to 50.4 loads you are referring to is for H4350. You will have to get past 54.0 grs of even a fast lot of H4831SC to get you ove the 2800 foot threshold. My bet is you are looking at 54.5 to 55.3 (depending on how fast or slow of a lot of H4831SC you have) somewhere in there for H4831SC..

55.0 gives 2840 for me in 27inch Bartlien

PICT5507.JPG PICT5508.JPG Nodes? What nodes? According to Quickload this one doesn't peak at a node but it obviously works very well with 1/4 moa at 200 yards:

55.7 gr H4831SC MV 2851

Did extensive load Development when I first started shooting the .284. Of course the amount of powder will depend on the length of your barrel when using 4831SC but with my 32" Bartlein 54.5 gr is the magic number with the Hybrid 180. 2850FPS in my gun. I achieve single digit ES/SD.

The following is from the Cartridge Guide section on 7mm

.284 Winchester Load Map

WOW. I've got a slow barrel or a slow lot of H4831. With a Brux 30" 8.5 I'm only getting 2725 fps with 54.5 gr with SMK 183s Norma brass CCI 200. But it's a hammer.

gawga_boy, I went back and looked at my test loads with the 183mk, I was getting 2780 fps with 54.5 of H4831 and 2808 fps with 55gr. Shooting a 30" Krieger with an 8 twist and Fed 210M, it liked the MK's as well!
