What rifle?this is a factory rifle and has 28 "barrel
Thank you
Sabatti tld red¿Qué rifle?
Just had a look at their website. Interesting. We have only seen their hunting rifles down here. So 2 Italian factories making long range rifles - in a country with not many ranges over 300 metres.Sabatti tld red
Does that cheek riser look like leather to you? God bless the Italians. I need one of these now.
Thanks youIf its any help using 27.1 gn of 4831SC in my Shehane with a 184 Berger hybrid I top out at about 2920FPS with a 32" barrel.
AA4350 gave me about 2890 fps at 53.4 gn. with a Sierra 180 also in a 32" barrel.
These are both single based powders as are N165-160.
The 4831SC falls between N160 & N165 on the burn rate chart. The AA4350 is slightly faster.
My guess is that the practical max velocity for a Shehane with these bullet weights is around 2900-2930 with single base powders and a 30+ in barrel. You can probably go faster with double based powders but they burn hotter and decrease barrel life.
If I had to venture a guess with a Shehane using a 180 Berger, VV powder and a 28" barrel you should be able to get up to somewhere around 2870fps but start low and work up slowly!!!!
Please note that these are the max velocities I feel I can safely get up to with my rifles and they are not necessarily the most accurate. I generally shoot at a lower velocity for better accuracy, better brass life and longer barrel life. Velocity doesn't win matches, accuracy does!!!!!!!
The price here is 1740 dollars
My current 284 Shehane has 27" barrel (was rechanbered from 30") and I am only running it at 2800 to 2830 fps. I have heard of others running the Shehanes at the 2930-2950 fps node but from what Ive seen, the rebated case design of the 284 brass ends up loosening primer pockets pretty quickly. ( I did have a 31" barrel a few years back however which would run at 2940 fps, though was a little hard on primer pockets.Hi guys
I was wondering how fast you can get with a berger 180 hybrid whit 28" barrel lenght.
Using vihtavuori n165-160 powder
How is the barrel life?
I see that most use 30-31 "
this is a factory rifle and has 28 "barrel
Thank you
Thank you.I'm sure, the above is the website retail price. I have no way of knowing what the discounted prices might be.
I was using a 30" barrel for testing but 28" will work just fine especially if you can walk into a store to make the purchase instead of waiting for a custom rifle to be built.
The Shehane + the 180 gr. Hybrid will win the war of inches when we decide on the loaded length and the design of the chamber. The two powders you suggest (160, 165) are cool burning powders which favor the F-Class shooters (better barrel life) even though you will be working with a completely full case.
I shoot more of the 6.5 Creedmoor and the 6.5 PRC with the 130 gr. bullets than the Shehane but the 180 gr. Hybrid in the Shehane at the upper end of the velocity range will save you about 10" in drift. For an off-the-shelf rifle, I'd buy the Shehane if the chamber was suited to your loading. Otherwise you may need to see your gunsmith to adjust the chamber.
Enjoy!

As for barrel life, with N165 being the coolest burning powder you can buy, barrel life will be over 2000 rounds, but then N165 is a bit on the slow side for the 284 Shehane. It is likely that N160 with be more suited to 180gn/284 Shehane combo, but I have only tried N165, not N160. What style of shooting do you do? I take it if you are in Europe, you will shoot in pairs or threes? If so, barrel life will be for ever, while if you are in USA, shooting string fire 20 shot strings, it will likely be much lower.
If I like it, in the future I could buy a custom, but now I want to start with something cheaper.
