284 neck turning

Im starting to prep for a 284 Shehane. I have Peterson brass and have to turn for my .315” chamber. My question is do I turn before sizing or after? Keep in mind the necks will be about.003” smaller after turning and I’m using a Whidden bushing sizer die. I heard different theories so anything real life would be appreciated....

Since they will change after fireforming i would neck them down just enough to chamber, fireform with the bullet-less method, then fl size and turn. This is what i do on cases where the shoulders will be different after forming but have to be turned to even get going. Or even better you can get a fireforming barrel with a necked out chamber

I don't use use a bushing die to ready the case necks for turning as the bushing doesn't completely size the neck all the way to the neck-shoulder junction. My bushings are beveled. If the die bushing doesn't size the neck to the junction, the cutter will thin the unsized area and you may loose the neck from the case upon firing. I use a neck sizer die to size the necks, about 40.00 dollar for a RCBS die.

But I have no experience with a whidden bushing sizer die.
