284 in SA M700

Can 284 loaded with 162 gr AMAX, 168 gr Berger VLDs, and 175 gr SMKs be loaded, or unloaded I should say, in a M700SA without having to remove the bolt. I want to seat the bullets out where the boattail will be even with the neck:shoulder junction. The gun is a single-shot. Thanks.

Hi i have a 284 on an Omark single shot rifle they are the same length as a Rem short action. If you have a single shot follower it will feed the loaded round and eject the fired case but it will not eject a loaded round without removing the bolt. Think how many times you actualy remove a live round from your target rifles anyway i think you have a good setup if you go this way and just put up with removing the bolt to unload as you usualy will be finished shooting if you are unloading and you have to remove it to clean the barrel. The short action is better suited for you and i believe they are stiffer than long actions if they have not been sleaved.

a loaded round will go between 3.05 to 3.100" with a 175smk. I'm not sure about the profile of the 162's, but AMAX's are usually long suckers. Make sure you measure your mag box.

Also, the M700 feed rails might have to be opened up a bit to get the fat 284 case to feed properly.
